This is really the last Loath song, since the remainder were either covers or reworkings of older material. Feels like it stayed true to the spirit of the beginnings, if that can be considered a virtue. Idea came from a conversation about literally eating a worm as a vegetarian, and felt like an apt metaphor for the liberal tendency to moral slippage as circumstances demand.
lyrics
It's wrong to eat a worm
But if I had to I hope it doesn't squirm
I'd just swallow
I won't chew
It's wrong to eat a worm
But if I'm asked to, I'll try to make it work
I just swallow
Won't chew
Drowned in a puddle first
Best if it's dead
And in a perfect world
Someone else does them in
And in a perfect world
I might thank them
In case I need to eat another one
And another after that
I just gobble
I don't chew
Now all I want to eat is
Worms
Oh, what a delicacy
Let the Drowner serve them up
Grab them by the handful
What a royal feast
