A national tragedy is a convenient pretext for perpetual war For furthering US hegemony in the Middle East Pipeline wars, economic and military supremacy maintained Sectarian violence, stirring shit, let them tear each other to bits The empire never ended, it transformed Same Praetorians, new uniforms Addicted to fossil fuels, divide and rule Mutineers on a ship of fools, divide and rule Emperors of the shadow dynasty Divide and rule, divide and rule A succession of power since antiquity Divide and rule, divide and rule Humanitarian crises are a convenient smokescreen for intervention Shuffle allies, destabilize, fund extremists, redraw maps Stir the shit, watch them tear each other to bits The empire never ended, it transformed Same old Praetorian in new uniforms Addicted to fossil fuels, Divide and rule Mutineers on a ship of fools, Divide and rule Emperors of the shadow dynasty Divide and rule, divide and rule A succession of power since antiquity Divide and rule, divide and rule

You're checked out and oblivious Your sense of entitlement is hideous What don’t you understand Death drives a minivan Trivial gripes about property taxes For schools where you don't send your kids to take classes Tuition check in hand Death drives a minivan Spaced out, safe In a monied wonderland Death drives a minivan Bubble with a view Tunnel vision clan Death drives a minivan You'd like to speak to the manager please A wage slave missed a spot on your massive Humvee Are you lord of this land? Death drives a minivan You're wasting my time, not worth my respect Your purebred life full of genetic defects Defender of all that’s bland Death drives a minivan Another liquid lunch for the VIP crew I got mine I got mine I got mine So fuck you

Waiting on a messiah Who's come and gone Prophets swarm airwaves Diatribes brew poison fog We all share one fate Life ripens, goes to waste Lives go to waste Theocratic terror states Are veiled reflections Zealots marshaled To secure foreign markets Hasten the apocalypse With zero sum rhetoric Hope curdles into hate This is a violent age The cross vilifies the crescent vilifies the cross Ad nauseam Enslaved by ancient superstition Seduced by symbols and reductive fairy-tales Monotheistic Narcissistic Petty differences Inflamed Hope curdles into hate This, this is a violent age The cross vilifies the crescent vilifies the cross Ad nauseam

When the bombs fell down We went underground We gathered what was left Of the life that came before The ashes of the trees Feed the hungry seeds We'll build a home in the rubble And again prepare for war Only those born to the wilderness Get to live to see the promised land The rhythm of the hammers Find the will Bend the steel Wail of the klaxon Echoes in our bastion And our blood beats deeper Than the soil we call home We heard the whistle Of the incoming missiles We struck a note of discord with our song We went below Only those born to the wilderness Get to live to see the promised land The rhythm of the hammers Find the will Bend the steel Deeper than the soil Find the will
5.
Wendigo 02:17
A spiritual disease contracted Cast out, cast down Through wilderness wander, pariah To the mouth of Hell Like a wendigo The unthinkable act to survive Like a wendigo Heartless and buried in snow No recourse if you want to live Sleep in caves, feed on blood Through wilderness wander, pariah To the mouth of Hell Go back to the bosom Back to the beating hearts Shame burns away like mist At the feast of life
6.
Mala Bruja 01:40
Wildlife finds sanctuary on cemetery grounds Their destabilized ecologies Conspire to set them free In a rapture of the damned Welcome to the sixth extinction All your idols and vestments go to seed Your relics crumble Tear them down Let them forget our history once the humans go extinct You’re waiting for something but nothing will come Wrought low and just as your rope’s at an end Swallowed whole, the audience rises and walks away The pure air shivers through their fur once again.
7.
In the midst of peace We are in war From rays of hope Are shadows born Hypnotized By the eye of the storm In the midst of peace We are in war
8.
Quell 01:28
I changed my name like a dusty coat In an alley where scraps were plentiful And the wind tore my hair Until I saw nothing Nothing but the frontier And vandalized altars wreathed in unborn prayer My batteries run low and memory flickers You beside me there in the trench Bone and shit - shelter from the bombs I changed my name again To calm them, to calm them To quell I hurt the boys I couldn't save I called them things that were not their names I blamed them for what I was forced to do Where the castle laid its shadow Like pilgrims, we ate in silence And under torture, gave up Gave up our neighbors To quell
9.
Hero's Grave 02:00
The hero became a hermit His golden mane turns grey Bitter, alone His deeds, his legend All meaningless now Lost in the fog Triumphs will be reversed Warriors replaced But the end is not the end The end is not the end Shed a tear at the hero's grave Cut all the flowers Spring will return The child became a steward Sunshine on blooms ablaze A beacon of faith And like heroes before her Certain that life will sustain That spring will return Empires overrun Monuments defaced The end is not the end The end is not the end Whet your sword on the hero's grave
10.
Encryptors 02:29
A digital doppleganger Assembled from your data To model your behaviors Coherent, self-contained A commodifiable voodoo doll In a hall of mirrors Confronted by tautology Predictive policing Precognition A swamp man of irreducible parts Identical to yours Encoded destiny Control, delete All voluntary Doomed to repeat Feeding psychometric algorithms Subjects of information Whirling in the dazzle Permanent refraction of your least movements Pleasure in perpetual desire Whirling in the dazzle Encoded destiny Control, delete All voluntary Doomed to repeat And all will be revealed By the clone in the mirror in the realm of fear Encryptors

Through cracks on the street We grow When we plant the seeds They reap from us They feed Til they choke on us We're the ancient weed We're the invasive species We wrap our roots around their throats And we squeeze Until they choke on our existence Our resistance To their rule Until they choke Then cast the first stone Of total liberation Of community defense Against the root and branch And we feed Until they choke on us
12.
Redacted 01:32
Ribbon and scrolls Silent as smoke Redacted An accounting A naming of names Redacted Scorched and vanished A weeping wound cauterized Phantom butchers flee like wind-blown ash Redacted An epitaph to victims razed Redacted Widows and orphans A chance for justice denied The archive's sole object: A record of its own eradication

Two pillars of survival Love and resistance I won't be destroyed In the jaws of a dragon I won't concede defeat to this world I won't retire to a fool's paradise I've got a secret weapon you won't dare use Love rules the spirit of mankind While we wait For the mouth of flame Our poison works slow And this dragon will know

What if every choice is wrong Each act, an arrow dipped in poison They prowl the maze And follow my string My quiver empty I prepare for their sting Once shot, an arrow can’t be called back What if every choice is wrong A tale already told, conclusion foregone The labyrinth crumbles (the Gorgon's head) I hold fast the skein (the Gorgon's head) Knot after knot (the Gorgon's head) Each preordained
15.
Magus 01:49
They built the castle Enduring and sublime They begged the Magus To bless their grand design But he refused all of their demands He said their castle was only sand And soon the waves will walk To make an ocean of this land So they razed the castle Tower, hall and gate They begged the Magus Foretell another fate But he refused and brooded by the sea He said I enchanted you, and you protected me (Save us, Magus) He said the floods also come for me For diviner and disciple Faith - a grain upon the beach
16.
Wolf Mask 02:39
The old soldier misses the fever of war The sober thirst for a drink The saint whose sins defined him In heaven, dreams of escape A bargain struck between rivals They shake hands and turn away Each looking over their shoulder again To plot the next bloody raid Put the wolf mask on Put the wolf mask on Wear the skin of night Put the wolf mask on Put the wolf mask on One last time Dream a life so ordinary Nothing needs to be fixed Disquiet, discomfort, heartache and doubt Taken in hand and banished Welcome sedation, the calming glow To keep your fears at bay Serene, savor freedom from want And all this freedom to waste Does real trouble start when troubles end Victory all but assured Hardest to accept is hard times are gone Dazed on a wide open road Put the wolf mask on Put the wolf mask on Wear the skin of night Put the wolf mask on Put the wolf mask on One last time One last time

Plague Dogs 01:20
In such strange fields we're lost Hunted by the frost We fugitives, we cursed Find warmth in the earth Through a season of ice Seize a scrap of life Swallow the light Preserve it inside A lost dog seeks a vanished man An eidolon of his gentle hand Beckoning across the sea If I drown in hope, don't grieve for me When the sunshine grows sharp In summer's golden claws Memory knits our bond How we outlived the dark Lost dog seeks vanished man An eidolon of his gentle hand Let us drown in hope And live on As plague dogs

To the wounded and scorned To specters forlorn To love's shadow Howling like snow Again and again I will confess Until the words Have lost their sense Will choirs sing If I've atoned The dungeon answers The echoes, my own Night won't fall Day won't break No point in leaving No reason to stay A past gone lean Ghostly and white I inch on with my cane By some false light Of the blues that were sung on a careless day And the hymns to the sea that were asked to stay Of the wine-soaked tales of gutter-born grace I wail like clay
19.
The Bog 02:52
From the rivers of the world below To the bog runs what Charon sheds Pockets emptied of all that's owed Down in the bog they do collect All these passengers won’t keep Fall in rivers cold and deep The ring, the mirror, the story, the song Down in the bog they all belong Impedimenta, a lifetime’s hoard Cast them away, there’s always more When all the world is repossessed And still unpaid, that earthly debt Abject, scrape the clay with plow Digging for the bog bedecked Charon’s lamp swings at the prow Down in the bog they do collect
20.
With primal forces tilling earth up below our feet Wild manes whip in the breeze Like myths of speed and strength Lit by the spark of a fuse Chasing three ships leaving Spain Down the road reflected In the glow of hearts electric Ride the double helix To impossible Edens Beyond the eyes of death Circling in black pools Stealing little pieces our machines replace Beyond the gates of reason The drums are not yet stilled Three ships smash their prows
21.
I used to be a crow Got bit by a snake I escaped from the tomb With some fucker’s face I used to be a crow I got a family curse Chewing at my heels I got a stranger’s soul I'm a human shield The devil comes to collect And steal everything I have A promising career A box office smash There was an accident But do they exist Broke every last heart Worst cardiologist I’m trapped in a frame A spirit in a cell Living on in pictures Flip book from hell Do you see what I am Does anyone care If there’s nothing outside Am I even really there In the coal black sleep Where it rains all the time I used to be a crow Every motherfuckin' night
22.
Forgive us our fires We only feared the cold A world of night, a starless sky Fields of pandemonium We are home Carrying drums of bone and wire Offerings to stone Sing only for those who set fire Water yet unknown Mourning choir Calling us back home We bring fire In our hands of smoke Nomad child A season to roam Freedom knows the roads are liars Silence stands like soldiers in rows We are home Seedlings, tremble as you face the sun As we burned that future So now we burn our relics Learn to peel, learn forgiving Balance the jars Carry them home Learn the songs no one knows You will not be alone
23.
O Villainy 01:49
Midnight, let the games begin The wraith arrives For the reading of my crimes Showtime at 3 am Wide awake to watch the past repeat Ecstatic flagellation There’s a decade at least I’d be delighted to delete Condemned to decency, I’ll ride out the bid Hose me down, dress me up, but he knows what I did Bodies and plunder locked away in the basement There’s a demon in the vault who knows the combination Midnight, another fresh hell A montage of madness plays in my cell Dizzy and squirming, torment as art The demon cackling - he loves this part Don’t ask what I’ve done Preserve the present intact When God opens up a window Catch me slipping out the back Memories make enemies Of time’s merciful repairs I shudder with shame And go numb from despair The dead live again To swallow happiness whole The demon bows deep Then reprises his role
24.
Swollen wolf with a shepherds crook Takes a hundred hides for one holy book In the holding pen, you don't know whose Never dwelled too much on that pile of hooves Calling a wolf to lick your wounds A bolt of truth from the blackest cloud Your little friends can’t save you now A prayer before the lights go out Your little friends can’t save you now A knife shows up, the lambs lie down Your little friends can’t save you now No, your little friends can't save you now Madness stalks another season Drives a panicked flock off the edge of reason A kindly fool claims ignorance When he’s letting wolves inside the fence Never was too fond of the pets
25.
Drowned Worm 01:14
It's wrong to eat a worm But if I had to I hope it doesn't squirm I'd just swallow I won't chew It's wrong to eat a worm But if I'm asked to, I'll try to make it work I just swallow Won't chew Drowned in a puddle first Best if it's dead And in a perfect world Someone else does them in And in a perfect world I might thank them In case I need to eat another one And another after that I just gobble I don't chew Now all I want to eat is Worms Oh, what a delicacy Let the Drowner serve them up Grab them by the handful What a royal feast
26.
I climb through his ribcage To spike a silver vein With hammer, chisel and dynamite To line the coffers of Spain Acetylene and cigarettes for The mountain that eats men A devil upon whom I depend The mountain that eats men If the devil is generous He'll let us out alive The gods old and new Dance together through the street I will be buried here While the spoils of my labor leave Acetylene and cigarettes for The mountain that eats men A devil upon whom I depend The mountain that eats men I swore if he spared my brother I’d give myself to his fire

The wall rolled shut at dusk each day And she could not see the field Or the trucks that bore the others away She stares as raindrops fill her eye Green field Shimmer and quake Green field Where, nameless, she roamed Green field Tremble and shake Comes a thunder of hooves So the black clock’s current never ebbs No oarsman spared the lash Pandemonium The chute and tunnel Greased and surging Sluices to bear life away I can’t keep clean With blood in my cup From wells of peace These waters corrupt In this hour of calm Abide as you are Then comes the thunder A thunder of hooves

What loss that time won't fix One clock that can't remember When last its wheelworks still aligned So take these broken candlesticks And melt them all together Until we burn through the light Shelter in the tempest of an hourglass Love like a loom can repair the past If tomorrow never comes If tomorrow never comes We'll gather all our yesterdays In a bonfire bright as dawn If tomorrow never comes Until the cold rays split Like bones the night-black feathers And beckon bells to chime I'll go to ground with this: No faith in blind predictions I close my grip just in time Shelter in the tempest of an hourglass Love like a loom can repair the past If tomorrow never comes If tomorrow never comes We'll gather all our yesterdays In a bonfire bright as dawn If tomorrow never comes

about

All your Loathsome needs under one roof.

Loath started in 2016 with the ambit of banging out wind-in-your-hair arena crust with explicitly political lyrics. The sound evolved over time but we always tried to retain that primary impulse.

We had a lot of fun incorporating a variety of musical inspirations under the big tent of hardcore punk. Cody has the Dionysian songwriting disposition and I swing Apollonian, if you feel me. And we both loved to make stuff that was fast, epic and galvanizing.

I'm very proud of this body of work, and we learned a lot from the process of making and releasing it. We both turned 40 recently, so it feels like a fitting moment to drop a capstone.

Lyrics and track notes are included with download, presumably in the zip or the metadata (if you get down like that). A few tracks aren't included for nitpicky reasons but they're available on the original EPs (free of charge).

Thanks to everybody who listened and supported us in a multitude of ways. It matters a great deal to us that people have been into this. And I'm not a spiritual guy but I believe the world is more than the sum of its parts, so thank you for vibrating on our wavelength for this brief time.

Thanks to Geistraum Records (geistraumrecords.bandcamp.com) for releasing the Primal Horde cassette, and thanks to Dead Air Studios (deadairstudios.com) for mastering it.

No gods, no masters
Scoop the mids, boost the kick
