The drum groove at the start was inspired by Jimmy Chamberlain of Smashing Pumpkins, and the breakdown was lifted more or less directly from a Framtid song. I wrote half a horror screenplay about the Wendigo as a stand-in for white supremacy, so I was just all about Wendigo mythology, as was the style at the time.
lyrics
A spiritual disease contracted
Cast out, cast down
Through wilderness wander, pariah
To the mouth of Hell
Like a wendigo
The unthinkable act to survive
Like a wendigo
Heartless and buried in snow
No recourse if you want to live
Sleep in caves, feed on blood
Through wilderness wander, pariah
To the mouth of Hell
Go back to the bosom
Back to the beating hearts
Shame burns away like mist
At the feast of life
